Mrs. Reiling, 83, Of Howe, Dies
HOWE—Mrs. Sophia Ellen Reiling, 83, Rt. 3 Howe, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Sherwood Hall Nursing Home in Sturgis. She had been ill two years.

Mrs. Reiling was born in Marcellus, Mich., Oct. 21, 1879, a daughter of Frederick and Ellen (Wood) Bent. She was married June 16, 1897, in Goshen, to John Jacob Reiling. He died in June 1936.

Mrs. Reiling moved from Three Rivers, Mich., to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cain, Rt. 3, Howe (Ontario) 20 years ago and had resided there ever since.

Surviving are two sons, John Henry Reiling, of Sturgis, and Denzil Reiling, Rt. 4, LaGrange; five daughters, Mrs. Luella L. Kendall and Mrs. August (Katheryn) Gauthier, both of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Sherman (Beatrice) Wiedenbeck, of Three Rivers, Mich., Mrs. Vernal (Maxine) Parish, of Howe, and Mrs. Cain, with whom she resided; 16 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Roxana Adams, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Margaret Pagels, of Batavia, N.Y.

She attended the Methodist Church.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Shoup Funeral Home in Howe, with the Rev. Charles Hill, pastor of the Methodist here, officiating. Burial will take place in Marcellus, Mich.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday.
