Anna T. Brown, 86, of Battle Creek died Friday, April 13th, 2001, at Heartland Helath Center.
She was born September 27, 1914, in Kirkwood, Illinois to M. Jerome and Florence V. (Beatle) Thornburg.
She was a former resident of Marcellus.
She attended Kalamazoo Central High School and received her general equivalency diploma in California. She trained as a practical nurse at Community Hospital in 1954.
She was a practical nurse at Community Hospital until 1962, and at the University Hospital in Palo Alto, California. She then served as a private duty nurse until 1980.
She married Merton F. Brown on January 23, 1933 in Goshen, Indiana. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1982.
She is survived by son Preston E. Brown of Waukegan, Illinois; daughter Muriel E. Hurt of South Heart, North Dakota; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother Marcus Thornburg of Lawton; and sisters, Lucille Bolley, Florine Maurer and Carol Hassler, all of Battle Creek.
She was preced in death by son M. James Brown; and brothers James and Samuel Thornburg.
Visitation was held 4 to 7 p.m.; Sunday April 15th at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a memorial service at 7 p.m. by the Eagle Auxiliary.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m., April 16th 2001, at the Funeral Home, with Rev. David L. Dryer officiating.
Memorials may be made to Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children, Heart Association or Home on Range for Boys at Sentinel Butte, North Dakota."
