Obituary of Dean Charles Gaston:

Dean Charles Gaston (1909-1984) married Mildred George (1908-2001) and settled in Jackson, Michigan (USA). Dean was a son of Daniel Gaston and Helena Christum and Mildred was a daughter of Walter Demetrius George and Hilda Marie Pederson. Dean Charles Gaston and Mildred George had four children: Jean Ellen Gaston, Dean Allen Gaston, Beverly Gaston and Patricia Sue Gaston.

Dean was active in the construction business in mid Michigan for over 30 years, a member of the Elks Lodge & past member of Arbor Hills Golf Club. He was a member of the Golden Wedding Club. Dean worked as an expediter for Mechanical Products and was manager of the furniture department of the former Glasgow Department Store at 139 East Michigan, Jackson, MI.

GASTON, DEAN A.
Age 73, of Pleasant Lake, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2004 at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jackson & Oaklawn. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty J.; six children, Gary D. Gaston and friend, Marilyn Horton, Craig L. (Becky) Gaston, Randy E. (Luanne) Gaston, Renee D. (Gene) Leightner, Brian L. (Tracy) Gaston, Deana M. (David) Thomas; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Gaston and his twin sister, Jean Maher; numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Tipper. Preceded in death by his parents, Dean C. and Mildred Gaston, grandson, Dean Thomas, great-grandson, Joshua Gaston and sister, Beverly VerPlanck. Dean had honorary degrees in Management Skills from both MSU and Harvard University. He was a National Sales Manager in the cabinet industry. In retirement he started local businesses in the same industry. He was also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Deanna and Marilyn from the Dept. of Aging. Mr. Gaston is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. the Reverend Erick Johnson officiating. Interment 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Cancer Society South Central Michigan Service Area would be appreciated.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Obituary of Mildred George Gaston: GASTON, MILDRED M. of Mason, formerly of Pleasant Lake, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001, aged 93 years. Survived by three children, Dean (Betty) Gaston, Jean Maher, Patricia (Tarey) Welsh; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene (Chester) Cuzynski; one brother, Ralph George. Preceded in death by her husband, Dean C. Gaston; daughter Beverly Verplanck; and grandson, Mark Maher. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Golden Wedding Club. Mrs. Gaston is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. Pastor Erick Johnson officiating. Cremation to follow the funeral service. Obituary of James VerPlanck: VerPLANCK, JAMES A. Aged 69, of Clare (formerly of Jackson) died April 27, 2002 in Lapeer. Born November 26, 1932 to Allen and Ethel (Pierce) VerPlanck in Lansing. Married Beverly M. Gaston who preceded him in death in 1987. Retired as a Field Engineer for Aeroquip of Jackson. Survivors include brothers, Jack (Mary Lou) of Lake City, Andrew (Gail) of Lapeer, Harry (Vicki) of Atlanta, GA and many nieces, nephews and special friends at Bailey Lake, Clare, MI. He was preced in death by his wife, Beverly; sister, Betty Landers. Services will be Thursday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. from Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home in Clare, MI with burial in Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation Wednesday, May 1 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
