Florence Mary Ginsbach (March 25, 1911 - December 30, 2007)
Mass of Christian Burial for Florence Ginsbach will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday at Kahler Funeral Home. A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel and the Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m., also in the chapel. Florence, 96, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2007 in the Dells Area Health Center. Florence was born to Joseph and Magdalena (Roeder) Nemmers on March 25, 1911 in Granville, IA, the oldest daughter of 13 children. Her dad taught her the love of music, teaching her the clarinet and piano. She loved watching him play baseball. Her mom gave her all the homemaking skills there ever were. The family moved to Dell Rapids in 1923 where she attended St. Mary Academy and later Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. She held various bookkeeping and clerical positions until her marriage to Peter H. Ginsbach in 1942. In addition to raising a family, she was very involved with St. Mary Church and school and the Polled Hereford business. She held offices in the Altar Society and is a past Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America. She did typing for the Sisters at school until her eyesight failed in 1980. She continued to bake her own bread and can her own tomatoes and stay in the house she and Pete built on the family farm until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; her granddaughter Megan Ginsbach and five brothers, Roman, Aloys, Fr. Charles, John, Fr. Leonard, Arnold, and Urban. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles (Marilyn) Ginsbach of Utica, SD, Helen (Robert) Thullner of Herreid, SD, Rita (Gary) Wilson of Rowland Heights, CA, Paul (Mari) Ginsbach of Dell Rapids, Lois (Gaylen) Bendewald of Sioux Falls, and Mark (Connie) Ginsbach of Bloomington, MN; her brother, Quintin Nemmers of Dell Rapids; her sisters, Sister Gertrude Nemmers of Aberdeen, Mary C. Page of Sioux Falls, Sister Helen Nemmers of Sioux Falls, and Charlotte (Bob) Hinricher of Dell Rapids; her grandchildren, Charlene, Charles Jr., Gary, David, Jim, Lisa, Doug, Karen, Linda, Jeffrey, Rebecca, Peter, Joni, Kendra, Nathan, Samantha, Sarah, Frank, Katherine, Michael, Jennifer, Shannon and Shawn and twenty-two great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Fern Nemmers of Dell Rapids.
